I played Super Turbo, 3rd Strike and Vampire Savior on an xbox controller before switching to stick when street fighter 4 came out because a) I think they look cool, b) I have fond memories of playing on stick in arcades as a kiddo, c) I probably bought into the above-mentioned myth at least a little bit, and d) I'm a sucker for specialty controllers, esp.

This idea has been proven patently false in the last few years by the rise of world-class pad players like sonicfox and snake eyez. There is a longstanding myth in the FGC that pad is somehow inherently inferior to stick because it's not, like, arcade-perfect or whatever, or maybe because every old-school SF player knows at least a couple of scrubs who never played a fighting game in the arcade but think they're hot shit on old, bad console versions of, say, SFII.
